This all started about Twenty Years ago when I was a surf bum dreaming of how I could never work and still have money rolling in like the waves, allowing me to chase the next big swell. Those were the days... Surfing several days each week, missing class to go to the beach, and chasing girls. I then realized I had two major problems I needed to overcome. First, I was never going to be a good enough surfer to make a living riding on fiberglass. Second, I was living in my Parents' house and bumming money from them. As a result, I had to look for other means to support my monetary needs and desires; I had to get a job...
In my younger years I worked my way from janitor to manager in the fitness industry. During that time, I began to study many successful individuals in search of what they all had in common. I knew being wealthy was much more than having a lot of money in the bank, but I didn't really know the right formula. After studying endless successful people I figured out the real formula to their success: multiple streams of independent income and a consistent, yet substantial, income.
The problem was I had no money. Yes, it takes money to make money. How was I going to get a consistent and substantial income so I could build multiple streams of independent income? I had nothing to start with. I had barely graduated from high school! I had a ton of work experience but nothing else. At that moment I realized I had to grow up and get a formal education.
With a couple years of school I would be able to achieve my dream--a house on the beach and time and money to do anything. So I was off to college. A year and a half later I received my first degree, an Associates in Business. At that time I was pretty sure I would now be able to make it big. I continued to go to school while I worked at a leading investment firm. The problem was the firm wanted me to trade hours for dollars. I felt like there were never enough hours in a day to achieve what I needed financially.
In 2000, I graduated college with a Bachelors in Business Management. I had learned enough to know a four year degree now days was simply just not enough to compete in the modern day job market. As a result, I took the LSAT and was admitted to Law School. I decided to attend a program that had a Joint JD/MBA program, to be able to keep my business interests alive.
Three and a half years later I graduated with both a law degree and a business degree. I knew I was getting closer to being able to fulfill the requirements of the formula I had learned only a few short years before. I would find a good paying job and start to build a substantial empire of multiple income sources.
The problem was that the job market had changed significantly. I was unable to get a job good enough for my needs. I spent the next year in Washington DC perfecting my international business and foreign relations skills, eventually becoming a leader in business development. Soon thereafter, I started working with a leading business development firm, assisting many start-ups located all over the world. This is when I began to learn about wholesale dropshippers and their role in the internet. What a fascinating concept. They manufacture, inventory, and ship the product to the buyer. The seller simply sells and is able to make the mark-up from wholesale to retail. What a concept!
I was not impressed with the concept initially because this is a very standard proceedure in most big businesses. I mean distributors and dealers all over the world sell products they do not have in stock and have them shipped directly to the purchaser. I mean you can go to a car dealer and order a car, just how you want it, and it will be delivered directly to your house from the plant and in a few weeks. You can call almost any distributor and make an order and get it shipped to your house, office, or wherever. The thing I loved about a wholesale dropshipper was that an individual could do this same thing on a very small scale from the comfort of their home. I mean what I loved was that ANYONE could do it from ANYWHERE! That was simply AWESOME!!!
As I worked for this business development firm, I began perfecting the formula for my personal financial goals by adding to my growing real estate portfolio, continuing to acquire stocks, and opening several businesses. I now run several of my own businesses both on and off line and consult others on the process of choosing and maintaining the right strategies for their long-term business goals.
Drop Ship Essentials was originally the brain child of a close friend of mine, who has been making his entire living consulting people in internet marketing for close to ten years. He asked me to take it to the next level. From there I have been adding content, uploading new cutting edge ideas, and making money!
The beauty of it all is I now am well on my way to my dream. I have a growing portfolio of real estate, stock market, and private business ventures/investments. I have multiple streams of independent income and a consistent and substantial income. I own property in the Carribbean and spend about half the year enjoying the tropics.
In hind sight, I am not so sure having nine years of college is all it is cracked up to be. I graduated with close to $150,000 in student loans. I had passed up close to 8 years of earning and investing potential. I ended up not even taking a job in my field of study. I mean who really would want to be a lawyer anyways? I have many friends from grad school who struggle to make ends meet after paying their student loans. I have professors who work night jobs and weekends to be able to pay their bills. Being wealthy is a mind set and a lifestyle. It takes a lot less time, money, and effort to become successful when you follow what other successful people have done, rather than trying to figure it all out on your own.
The true formula for success requires you to make small investments of money, coupled with consistent investments of time and effort. Work like your life depends on it. If you never give up until you have reached your mark you can achieve anything!
I would love to hear of your successes and hope some of my pointers are helpful to your new business.
Best Wishes!
